How we check places

Every listing on this site shows where its dog policy came from and the date we last checked it. We never guess whether a place takes dogs.

We use three kinds of source, in this order: the venue's own website or FAQs; trusted guides that record dog policies, such as the local CAMRA pub guide; and tourism and council visitor listings.

Places checked against the venue's own information are marked Checked against the venue's own site. The rest are marked From a trusted guide, and we're working through them to confirm.

Where a detail such as a dog fee isn't published, the listing says Not confirmed yet rather than guessing.

We also list places that don't allow dogs inside, so you know before you set off.
